The Seventies Chronograph Panorama Date from Glashütte Original celebrates a world on the move in the 1970s, where travel, self-realization, flexibility and a return to nature became more outspoken social norms. Reserved exclusively for the North American collecting community, this newly updated version is presented in polished stainless steel, with its compact 40 x 40 mm diameter case whose rounded corners echoes the design icons of the dynamic decade it is named after.

They are famous all over the world – the American spirit and the typical lifestyle have been portrayed in countless books, movies and songs. The Seventies ‘X’ Chronograph reflects this mood: confident, strong, yet effortlessly relaxed. The special edition blends refined mechanics powered by the reliable beat of an automatic movement and that of the vibrant American spirit, showcasing what it takes to be a timeless classic.

The stainless steel case with a diameter of 40 x 40 mm and rounded corners is reminiscent of the design icons of the pulsating 1970s. The Calibre 37-02 manufactory movement ensures maximum user-friendliness and boasts a running time of 70 hours, while the chronograph profits from a column wheel with flyback function. The finely finished automatic movement can easily be admired through the sapphire crystal case back.

Glashütte Original introduced the Seventies line a decade ago, inspired by one of the most legendary eras in design. To mark this anniversary, the brand created a special limited-edition timepiece. The signature square case frames a white lacquer dial, featuring two black galvanized sub-dials with a fine vinyl-style pattern. Bold white indexes add contrast, while a red 10-minute marker commemorates the milestone. The red chronograph hand echoes this celebratory touch.

For the first time, Glashütte Original presents a Seventies model created exclusively for North America. This iconic timepiece is limited to 100 pieces and combines the brand’s distinctive Panorama Date with the most important chronograph functions in a watch of a pleasing size: stop-second, flyback function, 30-minute display and numeric 12-hour display. Each timepiece includes both a rubber strap and a stainless-steel bracelet — so there is no need to choose between style and function.
