The original Seiko 5, reborn

The year was 1968, on the eve of the Summer of Love and the cultural revolution of the early seventies, came the ethos of the Seiko 5 collection, which promised an automatic movement; a day-date display in a single aperture at 3 o’clock; robust water-resistance; a recessed crown at 4 o’clock; and a solidly built steel case and bracelet or strap. The resulting Seiko 5 collection would go on to become a mainstay in timekeeping history, and today, Seiko pays tribute to the 55th anniversary of this moment with SRPK17, a thoughtfully crafted limited edition that retains all of those original features and design aesthetic — right down to a newly engineered bar-link style stainless steel bracelet to complete the look.

This Seiko 5 is powered by Seiko’s own 4R36 automatic movement with 41 hours of power reserve, and a day/date complication. It is limited to 15,555 pieces, to commemorate the 55th anniversary of the Seiko 5 collection.
