A journey back to the Fears origin story

Taking its name from the Bristol street where the company was first founded in 1846, the Fears Redcliff is designed to be an elegant and sophisticated everyday timepiece.

The Redcliff 39.5 Date is housed in a contemporary round case with integrated lugs alongside a screw-down case back, bezel and crown. Spanning 39.5mm in diameter yet with a case thickness of only 9.98mm, this slim case combines a bushed middle-section with the polished finish of the bezel's graceful profile. The proportions of the case and its integrated lugs help ensure the watch will perfectly fit the contours of any wrist. Inside beats a custom Swiss-made, automatic La Joux-Perret G100 movement. 

Characteristic of the Redcliff are the oversized baton indexes, which are crafted from a block of brass before being diamond polished and then coated in black gold, giving them a warm, grey/black appearance. The 12 o'clock index also features a subtle reference to another great Bristolian historical reference (the shape and form of the towers that hoist the famous Clifton Suspension Bridge). Each marker has been hand-filled with X1-Grade Super-LumiNova in Switzerland before being carefully hand-applied to the dial

The main section of the dial features a sunray finish to the surface with a finely-milled CNC grooves on the lowered chapter ring. The rhodium coating is complemented by sharp black printing with soothing cyan for the minute numerals (and matching seconds hand). At 3 o’clock a date window is cut into the dial revealing a color-matched date disc featuring numerals in Fears' own bespoke ‘Edwin’ typeset. The window itself features a shallow bevel running around all four sides to aide legibility whilst reading the date and gives the optical illusion of it appearing larger. 

Completing the dial is a set of Fears’ own handset, which are tri-bevelled and diamond polished before being finished in a coating of black gold (thus matching the indices), yielding a high degree of legibility when combined with the X1-grade Superluminova.

In a first for a Fears offering, the Redcliff is fitted with a new bespoke 3-link stainless steel bracelet, which is equipped with a micro-adjustment feature tucked into the trigger-release clasp. The watch includes an additional quick-change textile strap, enabling the wearer to easily swap out the look.

Toppers is excited to offer a free extended warranty on the purchase of new watches. This warranty begins when the manufacturer's warranty runs out. As such, Topper Fine Jewelers will provide an additional non-transferable warranty for a period of one year.*

Topper Fine Jewelers will have sole discretion to determine whether the work for the warranty will be performed "in house" by Topper Fine Jewelers or at a repair facility of our choice.
