The next-gen, heritage-inspired Marinemaster

Ever since its first diver’s watch in 1965, Seiko has developed new technologies, features, and designs that have made its diver’s watches favorites among professional divers and adventurers the world over. In 1968, just three years after Seiko’s first diver’s watch was made, the brand’s engineers raised the bar by creating a high-beat diver’s watch with 300 meters of water resistance, laying one of the foundation stones on which future Seiko diver’s watch development would be based.

While the design reflects its heritage, every aspect of this new Marinemaster retains the traditions and high levels of diver's watch innovation upon which the Prospex collection was founded. The high-contrast design, with its precisely controlled color and texture of the dial and indexes, boasts outstanding legibility while bearing the traditions of Seiko's most sought-after divers, while new design elements, like the knurling found on the rotating bezel and crown have been improved for a better grip. To ensure the watch's durability, the crown is not screwed directly into the case but locked into a separate component that is built into the case so it can be more easily replaced.

The watch is finished with a high-transparency, dual-curved sapphire crystal with an anti-reflective coating on the inner surface to enhance legibility. High-intensity Lumibrite applied to the indexes and hands helps to increase safety and reduce stress when diving.

This Marinemaster is powered by Caliber 8L35 which was developed especially for diver's watches and is hand-assembled by the craftsmen and at the Shizukuishi Watch Studio in northern Japan. The movement's rigidity and accuracy ensure the highest possible levels of performance in the most demanding environments, both on land and under water.
