2022 was an epic year for new watches, but these ten stood head and shoulders above all the rest. Join us as we count down our ten favorite releases of the year — all of which are in-stock and shipping in time for the holidays!

H. Moser watches have always remained in short supply, but things were taken to the next level in 2022, as the beloved Schaffhausen indie went from hot, to white-hot. Sport-crossover references like the sought-after Pioneer Centre Seconds disappear as quickly as we can restock them, but for the time being, we've got this reference in Swiss 'Mad Red,' just in time – and perhaps most fittingly – for the holidays.

Rowing Blazers charmed its way into the watch collecting lexicon last year with the first Seiko 5 collaborative edition, and this colorful sequel is primed for a repeat. Nicknamed the "Dress-KX" (a play on the reference code "SKX"), this quartet brings thoughtful details and plenty of capability in a whole new world of collectability. As a collection, the Seiko 5 has been home to hit after hit all year, and this iteration was no different.

A full ceramic case wouldn't have been anyone's guess as to where the vintage-inspired Zodiac Super Sea Wolf diver would go in 2022, but then again, none of us predicted the wild meteorite editions either. At the end of the day, this brooding new reference surprised and delighted with its scratch-proof ceramic build and moody blue dial — a perfect combination, and a clever, albeit unexpected twist on a timeless tool watch mainstay.

It's become something of a yearly tradition: the MR-G Limited Edition. For those who appreciate the absolute apex of G-Shock design where it collides with traditional Japanese craftsmanship, there's simply nothing better — and this year's "Gassan" edition, named after a legendary Japanese swordsmithing family delivers the goods. You only turn 40 once though, and G-Shock pulled out all the stops on an anniversary edition that must be held to be fully appreciated.

For the better part of the last decade, the Longines Heritage collection has exuded quiet excellence, revisiting the most interesting references from the brand's impossibly deep archives. But this year, Longines didn't just revive a vintage diver, they revived its high-beat movement too, with spectacular results. The detail-rich new Ultra-Chron is at once a visual and timekeeping delight, as it delivers accuracy that far exceeds the traditional COSC specifications.

Nope, we'd never seen a mother-of-pearl dial quite like this either, but leave it to Oris to once again look outside the confines of watchmaking tradition for another fantastic limited edition. This special Aquis employs a lovely olive-green mother-of-pearl textured dial to carry the message of conservation and rehabilitation to help restore the New York Harbor to its former, natural glory.

Ok, so we're cheating a bit here — the Zenith Chronomaster Sport didn't technically come out this year, but it's been almost two whole years since these became readily available. No one likes a waitlist, but this one's for good reason: this striking, high-contrast and high-beat chronograph is in a league all its own, and we can assure you, is well worth the wait.

In a year marked by a long-awaited return to travel, brands like Breitling responded in kind with super-wearable and markedly capable references like the new Chronomat 40 GMT. Equipped with a bright red 24-hour hand and those signature grippy rider tabs on the bezel, this sporty, modern reference tips its hat to Breitling's support of the high-flying tricolore from 1984.

With the Evolution 9 collection, Grand Seiko has quietly raised the bar on what a modern sports watch could be. Modern, but thoughtfully sized, beautifully detailed, and staggeringly capable with its water resistance and next-generation Spring Drive movement, the new SLGA015 "Black Stream" diver from the Evo 9 line is the epitome of everything we love about a good dive watch, and everything we love about Grand Seiko.

Surprised? You shouldn't be. The Speedmaster Moonwatch is one of the world’s most iconic timepieces thanks to its participation in all six moon landings, as well as all future manned space missions. Even after two years on the market, this Master Chronometer 'Sapphire Sandwich' reference remains the most sought-after watch at Topper, and for good reason. Greatness is earned, and there can only be one Moonwatch.
