Top 10 Watches Holiday Gift Guide

It feels like this list gets harder and harder to curate every year, with more amazing watches than ever hitting our desk in 2024. That said, it's a tough job, but someone's got to do it and these ten references handpicked by the whole team at Topper stood head and shoulders above all the rest this year. Join us as we count down our ten favorite releases of the year — nearly all of which are in-stock and shipping in time for the holidays!

Sure, the Seiko 5 GMT made our 2023 list as well, but with a raft of great colors (like this new silver 'Batman' color choice) and its well-earned status as the best entry-level mechanical watch under $500, there's no reason why it shouldn't be on every year-end list, and in every collector's box.

On the heels of a rare and wildly successful jump hour collaborative edition that launched at the outset of 2023, Fears opened this reference up to the masses with an inky black reference that quickly became one of our favorite watches of the year. It's a clever complication, and beautifully executed – both hallmarks for this beloved British indie.

Yes, if you've been paying real close attention, the Longines Legend Diver 39mm also made our 'Best of 2023' list, but the new color additions to the collection, particularly this new Coral dial has us captivated all over again. And if this charmer somehow missed your radar the first time around, it bears repeating: the 39mm case makes this one of the best vintage-inspired divers in the game, full stop.

7

Paying tribute to the classic 45GS introduced in 1968, Grand Seiko has gone to painstaking lengths to reproduce the charm and history inherent to this important reference, but it's now powered by an all-new Hi-Beat movement, making this quite possibly the most important dual-signed modern GS in the catalog.

We love a good surprise, and few things caught us more off-guard this year than the über-cool new Zenith Pilot collab with Japanese luggage maker Porter Yoshida. Clad in a warm olive drab green ceramic and punctuated by bright orange accents, it is at once bold and modern, but tailored for everyday wear – just the way we like it.

5

We're on record saying this Oris Aquis has one of the nicest dials of any watch in the store – and we mean it. With its transportive teal and blue split dial (meant to evoke an underwater view on the Great Barrier Reef), it is both calming and immediately inspiring of wanderlust, making this an easy pick for the nicest Aquis we've ever worn.

IFor years, collectors have been patiently (and some, not-so-patiently) waiting for Blancpain to introduce a more 'Goldilocks'-sized Fifty Fathoms, and in early 2024, the maker finally delivered perfection with a 42.5mm titanium offering in two colors and a plethora of strap options. Consider us finally satiated – this is it chief.

3

This Breitling Navitimer might not have been officially released in 2024, but it bears repeating: housed in a conservative 41mm case that's loaded with detail and powered by Breitling's incredible B01 calibre, this is the ultimate Navitimer, full stop.

A late add for sure, but seeing as we first laid eyes on this top-secret Speedy when it leaked to the forums earlier this summer, we held a spot on this very list for what we hoped would be launched this year. Thankfully, Omega did not disappoint with the new Speedmaster Pilot 'Flight Qualified,' a proper dyed-in-the-wool tool watch that continues the long legacy of the beloved Flightmasters, but for an entirely new generation of high-flying aviators.

When it comes to the traditions of fine watchmaking, and the demand for capability on the modern wrist, few makers come close to Parmigiani Fleurier's candle, and few chronographs left more of an impact on our hearts than the Tonda PF Sport. Svelte, delicately colored, and loaded with incredible detail, Parmigiani is a brand whose committment to the craft reveals itself to you slowly, with every turn of the wrist. This is as close to the finest chronograph as one could possibly hope for, and choosing a favorite from three colors was no easy task.
