Carrying the traditions of a pioneering chronograph

More than 80 years ago, the first wristwatches with a chronograph function were developed in Glashütte, setting new technical standards at the time. With the Senator Chronograph Navigator, Glashütte Original continues this tradition: as pioneering as its historic predecessors, yet tailored to today’s needs. Its stainless steel case measures 41 mm in diameter and features a sapphire crystal caseback, offering a view of the exquisitely finished automatic calibre inside.

The Senator Chronograph Navigator draws direct inspiration from the pilot’s watches of the 1940s. As with its predecessors, particular attention has been paid to a functional design and intuitive operation. A black Louisiana alligator leather strap, a sand-coloured synthetic strap or a stainless steel bracelet ensure a perfect fit on the wrist; thanks to quick-change lugs, these can be attached to the case without the need for tools. The double folding clasp also features a quick-change system, making it easy to swap between different straps.

On the Senator Chronograph Navigator, the handcrafted dial is finished in matt black and features Arabic numerals made from solid luminescent material. The hour and minute hands have also been generously coated with Super-LumiNova®, whilst the hands for the stop-second, 30-minute counter and small seconds are lacquered white. The distinctive pilot’s crown, featuring the subtle double-G symbol, offers excellent grip, as do the classic mushroom-shaped pushers at 2 and 4 o’clock. The flange is adorned with a white-printed, high-contrast tachymeter scale for quickly measuring speeds.

Inside the Senator Chronograph Navigator, the finely finished 37-24 automatic movement is at work. With a diameter of 34.2 mm and a height of 8 mm, it combines the key functions of chronograph timing within a compact space: central stop-seconds, 30-minute counter, small seconds and Panorama Date. The calibre beats at a frequency of 28,800 vibrations per hour and offers a running time of 70 hours, as well as a silicon balance spring that is resistant to magnetic fields and temperature fluctuations. The watch’s rate can be precisely adjusted using a combination of regulating screws on the balance wheel and a swan-neck fine-adjustment.
