We have worked closely with Nomos Glashütte to create an elegant dress watch with a unique design. This is a 75-piece limited edition watch.

The case of the watch will be identical to the current Tangente 38, measuring a 38mm diameter and just under 7mm thick. Its angled lugs make it wearable for wrists from 6 1/2 to 8 1/2 inches, and it should fit under any cuff. It will come on the Nomos Glashütte black shell cordovan strap that can be ordered in any size. Those with wrists of seven inches and under should consider ordering the short strap.

This limited edition features a striking combination of a deep white colored dial and lume-tipped, blued hands. It will have a lacquered varnish closely resembling some of our favorite enamel dials. The photos shown here are Nomos Glashütte’s rendering of what they believe the color will look like. It is possible the shade of white will differ slightly in final production. The dial is also unique from a standard Tangente 38 in that the Arabic markers and baton shaped indices will be dark blue instead of black.

What we love most about Nomos Glashütte is the subtlety and simplicity of the brand's Bauhaus-inspired watch designs. We wanted this special edition to refer to our 75th anniversary in an extremely understated way. Accordingly, we asked Nomos Glashütte to make the lume on two of the twelve hour indices (at 7 and 5) a blue Superluminova while the other dial indices will be green. When we presented this concept to Nomos Glashütte, they loved the idea and described it as "very Nomos."

Our 75th anniversary has given us the opportunity to reflect on the efforts of our Grandfather Arthur and Father Bill, who put decades of hard work into Topper. As a way of giving back, Topper Fine Jewelers and Nomos Glashütte are each donating 75 dollars from the sale of each watch to the UCSF Stephen and Nancy Grand Multiple Myeloma Translational Initiative (MMTI) at the UCSF Helen Diller Family Comprehensive Cancer Center. This charity has particular importance to our family as our father, Bill Caplan, was treated at UCSF for a form of cancer called Multiple Myeloma. We believe the excellent care he received there greatly enhanced the quality of his life. It is also a world class research facility providing patients access to new drugs as they become available and helps determine which medications will be available at medical facilities across the country.
