Type 10 Dark Night

A fully realized vision of the future

Powered by the Belgian indie's very first oil-filled manufacture movement, the groundbreaking new Ressence Type 10 becomes one continuous object, shaped by the question of what a mechanical watch would look like if it evolved following the laws of nature rather than those of engineering. This incredible design fluidity is made possible by a dial filled with inert oil, creating a future-forward form and an unmistakeable shape made possible by the proprietary three-dimensional ROCS time display architecture. At the heart of the TYPE 10 is the in-house designed RW-04 self-winding calibre. Configured specifically for this watch, the RW-04 consists of 252 components and offers a  60h power reserve through its two barrels. With nearly 200 components in oil, the RW-04 movement drives the ROCS 10 through a magnetic transmission, transferring motion from air to oil without physical contact.

The multi-segmented time display is carved from 24 titanium segments alternating between small, sandblasted inserts filled with luminous paint and larger, linearly brushed surfaces. The direction of the brushing shifts by 30 degrees from one segment to the next, so each catches the light differently. On the wrist, the DLC-coated 'Dark Night' 41.5mm titanium Type 10 DN reads as a monochromatic monolith. Take away the physicality of the components to obtain a seamless volume. The boundaries between components visually dissolve. Case, dial and integrated strap share the same deep blue tone: Dark Night. For all the complexity and mechanics inside it, Type 10 weighs just 82 grams, a pinnacle evolution of integration, innovation, and superlative end-user comfort.
