Defy Extreme Diver Topper Edition

A Defy with a striking, unique luminous signature

Zenith and Topper Jewelers are pleased to announce the DEFY Extreme Diver “Bioluminescence” Topper Limited Edition, an exclusive interpretation of the brand’s modern diver, created in a series of only fifty pieces. This edition draws inspiration from the blue glow of deep-sea bioluminescence, bringing a rare and vivid aesthetic to one of Zenith’s most capable timepieces.

Crafted in lightweight titanium and water resistant to 600 meters, the 42.5 mm DEFY Extreme Diver “Bioluminescence” is engineered for exploration. Designed exclusively for this project, the blue wavy dial carries a distinctive bioluminescent effect through the use of Super-LumiNova, creating a radiant glow reminiscent of the ocean waves at night. 

Crafted in titanium, it houses at its core the El Primero 3620, a manufacture movement specially conceived without a date function, offering hours, minutes and central seconds through Zenith’s signature high-precision architecture. This exceptional calibre and its distinctive bright blue rotor is visible through a sapphire exhibition caseback.

The oversized screw-down crown feature is protected by titanium crown-guards on either side. Just like the historical Defy A3648 from 1969, the Defy Extreme Diver is rated to 600 meters (60 ATM) of water-resistance, which happens to be 1,969 feet – a symbolic number for the Defy diver. It meets the ISO 6425 requirements for professional diver watches, which include ISO 764 for paramagnetism as well as ISO 1413 for shock-resistance, making it a comprehensive diver’s watch suited to the most demanding conditions.

Completing this Defy Extreme Diver Topper is its titanium three-link bracelet as well as two supplied straps. The first additional strap is in white FKM rubber, with a Cordura-effect texture that features vents on the side, allowing water to pass through. In line with Zenith's HORIZ-ON initiative to reduce the brand’s environmental impact and produce more sustainably, this watch also comes with an extra-long strap made of recycled fishing nets, intended to be worn over a wetsuit. It features specific end-pieces to pass the single-piece strap through and under the case for a secure fit.

Inspired by the microscopic plankton that glow a delicate blue-green on the surfaces of some Northern California waterways, this striking titanium dive watch combines an entirely new textured wave dial and matching blue ceramic bezel (both developed by Zenith exclusively for this project) with the hidden luminous signature of this incredible phenomenon in nature. The end result delivers the rugged, instrumental capability of the Defy Extreme with a luminous glow that is truly unlike anything you've ever seen.
